Graphics Guidelines
Graphics to be used for Screenprinting on garments should adhere to the following guidelines.
Graphics files can be sent as an email attachment to Webmaster
Artwork
- Original Artwork - 80% of finished size with no imperfections to be scanned & used with only minor editing
- Simple Sketch - Basic text & design elements
- Photocopies/Faxes – Always require time to clean up or recreate
- Photo/Scan from Uniform – Very difficult to match, but necessary for fill ins without existing film. Matching fonts is time consuming if even possible.
Graphics Files
- TIF, JPG, PSD - at 300dpi and full print size (up to 13” x 13”)
- PDF, EPS - Fonts may change if unable to match exactly
- Corel Draw, Illustrator, Powerpoint, MS Word – Must be saved with embedded fonts
- Web Page Logos – JPG or Gif are usually low resolution, fuzzy or jaggy and require similar editing to a fax
Notes:
- Solid Colors – Most logos will print as solid colors – fades, shadows, shades of color or photographic images do not usually reproduce well
- Halftones – A visible dot or line pattern is produced to simulate different shades
- Number of Colors – A maximum of 6 colors can be printed
- Base Color – Most logos printed on dark garments will require a white or light base to make logos visible
- Ink Overlap – Multi color logos are usually printed lightest to darkest colors with slight overlap over underlying colors (edited in house)
- Names – ideally as a *.txt file in UPPERCASE if they are to be printed in UPPERCASE to minimize typos
